Goals and concept
The overarching goal of interdisciplinary cooperation in the Leibniz ScienceCampus Phosphorus Research Rostock is, through a thematically oriented integrated network, to explore options for a more sustainable management of phosphorus. A scientific basis is established for making economic cycles largely independent of the mineral phosphate supplies. This will rely on the efficient use, recycling and recovery of phosphorus. Moreover, P cycles and fluxes in the environment are studied, along with environmental problems, especially in aquatic systems, arising from inefficient P use or a lack of P recycling.
You can get an overview of the P-Campus' research focus areas in the following video on the P-Campus YouTube channel. Since the video is in German, English subtitles are available. If you would like to learn more about individual research areas only, you will find the corresponding videos below.
The concept of the Leibniz ScienceCampi, an initiative of the Leibniz Association, enables a thematically focussed, interdisciplinary cooperation between Leibniz Institutes and institutions of higher learning, as an equal, complementary regional partnership. The goal is, by pooling expertise and establishing networks, to promote the development of the respective research areas and to strengthen the related scientific environment. The networks organise strategic research, promote interdisciplinary topics, projects and methods, raise the visibility of the participating locations and strengthen their research profile.
