Cluster I: Phosphor in der Umwelt – P-Pools und Mobilisierungspotential im Flachland und in Küstenregionen

Cluster I des WissenschaftsCampus Phosphorforschung Rostock untersucht die Mobilität von Phosphor (P) und seine Flüsse über terrestrisch-aquatische Grenzen mit Schwerpunkt auf das norddeutsche Tiefland und Küstenregionen. Phosphor gelangt durch nicht geschlossene Wirtschaftskreisläufe in die Umwelt und entlang der Fließgewässer bis ins Meer. Ziel ist ein besseres Verständnis der P-Flüsse und -kreisläufe in der Umwelt, um die Auswirkungen der hohen P-Einträge zu analysieren. Dies beginnt an den „Quellen“ z.B. mit dem Aufbringen des Düngers auf landwirtschaftliche Flächen und den Effekten der künstlichen Entwässerung (Dränagen), aber auch an den Auslässen der kleinen und großen Kläranlagen in die Gewässer. Der P-Transfer setzt sich über die P-Flüsse in verschiedenen Ökosystemen, von speziellen Bodenkrusten über Moore und Küstengewässer bis in die großen Ostseebecken fort. Methodische Herangehensweisen in Cluster I umfassen Messungen auf kleinster Skala bis hin zu Ostseeökosystemmodellierung verschiedenster Größenordnungen. Ein Schwerpunkt des Clusters ist auch die kontinuierliche Verbesserung instrumentell analytischer Ansätze und Methoden.
